VLL: innovation for sport and vitality

Vitality Living Lab is a project developed by WESPIN for the Cluster Sports and Technology. The project with14 partners 5 M€ size is focussed on setting the next step in the Brainport based ecosystem for innovation in sports and virtality The project is supported by the regional fund OP Zuid.


Cluster Sports&Technology

From 2016 WESPIN has been the cluster manager for Cluster Sports and Technology . As such Rene Wijlens has been active to support the development of the cluster organisation, multiple events like the annual Sports Innovation Conference and Dutch Sports Innovation Award as well as the development of several large innovation projects.

Inno4Sport

The Ingerreg Europe project Inno4Sport, 1,5 M€, 5 EU countries is aimed at strengthening the development of the regional excellences of the participating regions for Sports Inovation. The project hast started in 2018 and will continue until 2022.

WESPIN is project leader of the project.

Clussport

The main objective of the ClusSport partnershi p is to help strengthen the sport industries at the EU level. This interregional partnership brings together stakeholders from the sport sector and related industries. Research, technology and education providers and managing authorities will be invited to join efforts in developing and implementing a common strategy that will enable investments and establish research facilities across Europe. Within this thematic area there is a will to reinforce the regional innovation capacity to facilitate investments based on open innovation infrastructure or new technology by clusters in regional innovation ecosystems.



EPSI

EPSI is the European platform for Sports Innovation. WESPIN is contracted to support the development of EPSI.

WESPIN/C Rene Wijlens is currently Executive Director for EPSI.

SMART Business

SMART Business was a project that started in 2012 and lasted until 2015. WESPIN has been the leader of this project that was supported by the regional fund OP Zuid.


Sports&Technology

From 2012-2015 WESPIN has been the interim manager for Sports and Technolog y. As such he has been active to support the transformation of Sports and Technology into a cluster organisation.

InnoSportNL

InnoSpotNL has been initiated from 2005 by TNO and NOC*NSF and was formally established in 2006. Rene Wijlens was the initiator and co-developer of the intiative, a 30 M€ program for innovation for sports. Innosport stopped its activities by the end of 2015.



nano4sport

The nano4sport project was started from a Dutch Belgium partnership; between CLuster S&T and KU Leuven. `The 4.4M€ project stimulated the use of innovative sensor technology for sports and vitality.

A clear focus was on the participation of SME. For this role WESPIN was hired by Imec NL.


IPC

In the Netherlands IPC provides opportunitiesfor companies to work togehter in Sports Innovation.
